We are proud to share that our project partner DITF and Vretena are the winners of this year’s Cellulose Fibre Innovation of the Year award! The award results were announced on March 13-14, 2024 during the Cellulose Fibres Conference 2024 in Cologne, Germany. The conference is focused on cellulose fibres – in textiles, hygiene products and packaging – and presents the most successful solutions based on cellulose fibres.
The spotlight is on The Straw Flexi-Dress – Design Meets Sustainability, developed by Vretena in collaboration with the HEREWEAR project. Here are some key facts about the prototype:
  • The Straw Flexi-Dress is a versatile and sustainable knitted garment using HighPerCell® filaments produced by @ditf_denkendorf
  • Vretena has developed the Straw-Flexi Dress prototype by using the inputs from creative workshop, tools and design guidelines produced by UAL (@becky_earley@laetitiaforst) within the HEREWEAR project to achieve a bio-based, local, and circular fashion product
  • The Straw Flexi-Dress design was inspired by the fabric: the natural golden colour and silky touch of the HighPerCell® filaments based on unbleached straw pulp and produced using environmentally friendly spinning technology in a closed loop production process.
